Esquire Magazine US App Reviews

Dont buy it! Same issues persist

I thought that the new version may resolve some of the ongoing problems. Unfortunately not. I paid for the current issue over a week ago and still cant download it. Previously downloaded issues are not available despite following all the tips/suggestions on the FAQ page. Emails to customer support are unanswered. This is not a one time event, i have sent 4 emails to customer support, no reply yet. I have tried contacting Hearst (directly), but the email address they provide comes back as undeliverable! This is utterly shameful! Esquire should be embarrassed to have their name attached to such garbage.

Dont buy until fixed!

The update does nothing. The magazines dont download. Esquire should try testing their apps before offering them to the public. DO NOT BUY!

Never works

Save your money. This is a terrible app that never works. Its too bad, because its a good magazine, but the app is horrible.

Crashes Incessantly

I was trying to choose which magazine to subscribe to: Esquire or GQ. This app made the decision very easy, though I would have liked the opportunity to base my decision on the content of the magazines. I downloaded an issue (thankfully, it was a free preview issue), and found that I couldnt turn the page more than two or three times before it crashed. I gave the app more chances than it deserved, continually restarting the app and even my iPad, and closing all other running apps to make sure it wasnt a RAM issue, hoping for different results, but I was consistently disappointed. Given the number of negative reviews, it certainly doesnt look good for the publisher that the app hasnt been updated since the beginning of December. Still, Id be happy to give it a chance once they get their act together. Telling me to delete and reinstall is not the way to deal with a buggy app.

Buggy, still

The content and added multimedia are wonderful ... when it works. Ive gone through more than a couple app upgrade versions ... Still download issues, covers that dont show up in library, crashes and lags in startup, deletes and redownloads to get things working. Esquire editors, writers and artists who clearly have a passion for excellent journalism are being woefully let down by their tech developers. Save the app aggro, buy a print sub if you care.

Interactive content good...text not so much

First, let me say that the interactive content in this magazine is quite good. My only real complaint with this app is that much (if not all) of the text was a very low resolution--blurry actually. Being a user of the 3rd gen iPad I find it ridiculous that text should look blurry. I am not just saying more blurry than I am used to with this retina display...I mean blurry to the point where it is not very good to read for much length. Fix this and ill give 5 stars.

Bad resolution

Have had no problems with "bugginess" with this update, though have had to sign out/back in to reload if make any changes/upgrades ; takes time. My biggest issue is resolution (really noticeable since I got the new iPad, but bad even before); The Economist has this sorted out; try that app and see the difference. Hearst & CondeNaste still have to upgrade their product to have the text (photos and videos are great) clearer. Its soooo blurry.

Ugggghhhh!!!

I dont understand how such a well to do magazine can have such an awful digital representation of itself. Magazine covers dont show up in your library, just got the newest issue and it wont download because it says its downloading another magazine but theres nothing there?!?!? The digital magazine itself is great however an awful, buggy store/ app leaves soooooo much to be desired. I want my money back for the issues Ive bought, Id gladly buy the print version if I knew how garbage this app was going to be. Boooooooo!

Worse magazine app

I downloaded the app, paid for a 1 yr subscription but have not read a single issue. App crashes as soon before I can read a single word. Please fix or copy GQs or Mens Health app, at least they work. I would give this app 0 stars if I could

Piece of crap

Hey Esquire mag. Your app is still a big piece of crap what a waste of money even after the update.

Do not do update if u have an iPad 1

I updated the app and now I cant read any of my Esquires. Help!!!!

Doesnt open after update

I cant open any Esquire magazine after this crappy update. I have a paid subscription....please fix ASAP!!! Dont you guys test this before rolling out updates?!

Update is not good. Crashes and is unusable.

This is unacceptable. Since updating my app in Newsstand, all my previously downloaded issues are nowhere to be found and when connected to wifi, the app doesnt even load because it crashes right away! What is going on? Fix ASAP or refund me my subscription. Its not that the app is bad, you cant even use it so forget liking it or not.

Crashes

Have been waiting for a fix after updating the software which has resulted in not being able to open the app at all without it crashing. Agree with the other comments fix ASAP or refund the subscribers money.

FIX THIS APP

Its broken, fix it.

Money Back

Worst app ever!!! They cant get the fix right. Money back please or visa will get it back for me.

Crashes

Since last update I have not been able to access my annual subscription. Needs to be fixed, and subscribers should receive some compensation...

Crashes

Ive never written a review, But I feel is necessary to warn others that this app keeps crashing since I have upgraded to the new software update for esquire. Fix it or give us subscribers are money back!

Woefully inadequate

Ive had this app since August and have only been able to download one issue. It crashes, it wont download, it hangs, its shockingly bad and ill conceived. Its performance is only eclipsed by the utter lack of updates and patches to fix the broken app.

S L O W downloads. crashes.

Why cant they get it together and make an app that works? Just about ready to bid Esquire adieu, sadly.
