Latest update not working

The latest update is not working on my iPad or iPhone. I have no clue whats wrong. I uninstalled it on my phone and it wont allow me to reinstall it.

Top notch

This magazine is fabulous. Writing is awesome, graphic design and technology is inspiring. A great experience every month. Keep rocking in a free world, Esquire.

Loved it!

Thank you Esquire. Always a great read.

New update horrible

The new update will not allow the entire magazine to download at one time. You turn the page, and suddenly the next page is fuzzy and you have to wait a loooong time for it to download.....or maybe it wont at all if youre on a plane, etc. If this isnt fixed soon, I will have to cancel. So frustrating!!!

Great app

for a great magazine. Not sure what everyones whining about.

Cant Read The Magazine on a Plane

Want to read esquire on a flight? Not any more! Thanks to the crack development team at Hearst/Esquire, it is now impossible to read the magazine unless you have a constant fast Internet connection. Esquire, you must add the capability to download an entire issue!

Great app for a great magazine

I have been a reader of Esquire for over 20 years. This app is perfectly matched to this magazine. It enhances the reading experience.

Needs an option to download all content at once

The app works well and has a great flow to read the content you want when you want it. My only gripe is that when you think you have downloaded the content you havent because the app constantly requires an Internet connection in order to download the content as you read it. This makes attempting to preload content for long haul flights almost impossible. I think this is the trend for new magazine apps to reduce the load time but it just makes the app useless for people whos goals are to use the app on the go (think NY Subway, airplanes , train rides, etc)

Download purgatory

A subscriber can age out of the Esquire demographic waiting for an issue to download. Issues load according to some impossible-to-understand article-by-article protocol. If an articles laborious download doesnt finish before you change screens, youre toast. It has to start all over again. The Economist takes about a minute. The New Yorker just appears on my iPad; no waiting. Unless Esquire fixes this, Im canceling. Lifes too short. Literally.

Bad

Forced to update, it cant be any slower, page by page downloads, which century is this?

Download Hell

Love the content of the magazine. Its a great mix of articles and holds my interest. Theyve improved the interactive features which is fine. The problem is that the current version of the app has a feature called progressive downloading which helps make downloads as you read quicker, but totally kills offline use. It can be very frustrating to be on a flight or out and about and the magazine isnt loaded fully. Plus theres no percentage indicator to know (not sure if that still happens) your progress. The previous version had that % indicator. How can you go backwards?

Good content and quick downloads

I never had any issues with downloads taking long maybe a minute two at the max. This is more than a magazine, there are interactive graphics and videos. If you are still running dial up or 1mb internet maybe the printed version will be better suited for you.

Excellent...

Four stars cause nothing is perfect....yet!

Inability to read offline

Its unconscionable that you have to be connected to read the issues. Unlike Zinio (the best reader ever) you have to be connected and cant read on an airplane Orr someplace without data. I took the bait and got wowed by the "bonus content" while sitting on my couch. Downloaded a bunch of issues for a cross country flight. 5 min after takeoff - useless. Dont make the same mistake I did. Subscribe through Zinio and have the freedom to take the content YOU PAID FOR anywhere you like

Never converted print to e-sub

After receiving emails from Esquire I converted my print subscription to a digital subscription. I was able to download one issue and now the only way I seem to be able to get new issues is if I buy each one at the newsstand price ... and that wont happen. How hard can it be for them to get this to work correctly?

The download Problem

Excellent magazine. Loses one star due to download problem. Solution? (admittedly, a work-around): Initial download of the issue is relatively quick, and Ive got a measly 3 Mps connection. Once thats done, click through each article. Pause on the ones that dont come up immediately, and wait until they download. Then continue through the articles, pausing/downloading where needed. When you reach the end of the issue, youve got the entire magazine available for offline reading. Yeah, its a chore. But it only took me about three minutes with my slow connection. But for two bucks an issue, I dont mind. Esquire Online is heavy with multimedia. Downloading the entire thing would take a very long time. Their solution is the only way of keeping all those bells-and-whistles without posting a massive file, though admittedly, this solution is kind of clunky.

esquire digital magazine is ...

Pretty good these days. I left and am now back. when i left the digital magazine was horrible. i dint think it had its own platform and most times it half downloaded. so far ... its doing what its supposed to and the interactives are really cool.

Not the Worst App Ever

I gave this app one star in an earlier review. I thought it was Dreadful. Turns out Esquire just doesnt convert subscriptions from print to digital as quickly as I thought it would be done, so I couldnt access anything. A day later I got an email with instructions on how to get a user ID and password, which I already had. I went through the process anyway and then everything has worked fine since then. Im still checking out the app, so Im not sure what the final rating will be. It doesnt deserve the zero I wanted to post earlier, though.

Cant Access Existing Subscriptions - only buy new one

This app does allow for accessing an existing subscription It ONLY has option to buy a new subscription

Esquire app

A little glitchy. Could be smoother.
